The Rockland Teen Center
is currently located at the new Rockland Community
Center (formerly the McKinley School), 394
Union Street, Rockland. The Teen Center
entrance is located at the rear of the building near the
gym.
The Teen Center has been
in operation since the summer of 1994. Over the
years we have provided a safe haven for the young people
of Rockland (grades 6 - 12). Our facility includes
a full gym, three pool tables, two ping pong tables, fus
ball, air hockey, bumper pool, and several video
games. In addition we have a TV room with a wide
screen TV/VCR . We offer a snack bar with
candy, snacks and soda as well as pizza. Most
items are fifty cents ($.50), pizza is seventy five
($.75).
We're open every Friday
and Saturday night from 7 - 11 PM. Members in grades 6
& 7 must leave at 9 PM. We are occasionally
closed for special events, holidays or due to inclement
weather. Always check this website or watch the
cable channel if in doubt.
The Teen Center is an all
Volunteer organization under the direction of Bill
McCormack (pictured above, right), and is overseen by
the nine members of the Teen Center Advisory
Board. Volunteers are always needed. We
encourage all parents to sign up for 2 hours of service
each year in order for the center to run
successfully. You must be over 19 years of age to
volunteer. If interested, please
either:
1. Stop in between
7 & 9 PM at the Teen Center and see Mr or
Mrs McCormack to pick up a volunteer form and
schedule a convenient time to
volunteer.
2. Call us
at 781-878-8395 (after 6 PM) or send us an email
through the contact us page
3. If you can't
commit to a specific time due to your schedule DROP IN
ANYTIME you are free! WE CAN NEVER HAVE
TOO MANY CHAPERONES!
Parents and other adult
community members are always welcome and are encouraged
to stop in and observe the goings on at the Center any
time. Feel free to call and check up on your
child. Each member MUST sign in and
out.
